Biographies of Our Firm

J.P. Mello offers strategic insights to his clients, based on his extensive experience as a patent attorney and as an engineer. His practice incorporates these insights into all aspects of patent counseling, preparation, and prosecution in a variety of technical fields, including medical devices, robotics, software, and advanced energy generation. Prior to joining Strategic Patents, J.P. was Senior Intellectual Property Counsel for one of world’s largest medical device companies, serving as the lead intellectual property attorney for products generating over $400 million in annual revenue. He also worked as an attorney in the Boston office of a large, international patent law firm, where he developed and managed patent portfolios for clients in all stages of the technology lifecycle.

J.P.’s engineering career began as an R&D mechanical designer for a multinational telecommunications equipment company, and he later worked as a senior engineer for an international consulting company, based in Cambridge, MA. His research in the areas of electronics cooling and advanced energy generation has given him something somewhat unique in common with his clients – he is, himself, an inventor on sixteen U.S. patents.

J.P. is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to the bar in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
